Problem

How might we enable persons with sensory and upper body mobility needs to easily control their assistive devices?

Thought Process

• Large surface area for easy contact
• Wireless functionality to enable easy placement of button onto any surface
• Tactile feedback to enable easy sensing that the button has been activated
• Long battery life

Prototype

• 3D printed the base to house the electronics
• DIY Silicon molded top with embeded capacitive touch
• Arduino + NRF module

Testing

Tested the button with 10 persons with disabilities and received positive feedback

Potential Improvements

Increase height of button or improve interactivity of the touch surface as users found it difficult to use due to the profile containing hard edges at the back.
